Remember the BIG box of Crayola crayons that was so exciting as a kid? The one with 96 colors?
It was so much fun to go beyond the standard rainbow and color with asparagus, atomic tangerine, cerulean, cyber grape, jazzberry, wild strawberry and more…
It felt like an adventure with endless choices, right?
So often as adults, we feel the opposite. We’re stuck coloring with a set of 8 colors, inside a box, on a predetermined path of what society/expectations insist we’re supposed to do.
But the truth is, we’ve still got access to all the colors if we choose to pick them up and use them!
Put down the grey crayon. Pick up the colors. And create your life in as many colors as you choose!
“Your attitude is like a box of crayons that color your world. Constantly color your picture gray, and your picture will always be bleak. Try adding some bright colors to the picture by including humor, and your picture begins to lighten up.”—Allen Klein
Ahaa. What a beaut of an analogy. Yes! I remember well those Super Crayon boxes and how much of a treat it felt!
